{"id":11565,"date":"2019-09-04T17:23:56","date_gmt":"2019-09-04T15:23:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.efnweb.be\/?p=11565"},"modified":"2019-09-04T17:23:56","modified_gmt":"2019-09-04T15:23:56","slug":"healthcare-in-cross-border-regions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/efn.eu\/?p=11565","title":{"rendered":"Healthcare in Cross-Border Regions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Today, the EFN attended a webinar organised by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.euregha.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Regional and Local Health Authorities<\/a> (EUREGHA). This webinar was an opportunity for the EFN to get informed on the Joint Statement that is being prepared under the <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/digital-single-market\/en\/news\/call-proposals-2019-cycle-thematic-networks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2019 Thematic Network Cycle<\/a>. The Thematic Network Cycle is an initiative by the <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Commission<\/a> aimed at public health stakeholders. The purpose of a Thematic Network is to produce a Joint Statement within a year, summarising the common position of a group of stakeholder organisations on one of the 6 selected public health topics<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The EFN has already attended <a href=\"http:\/\/www.efnweb.be\/?p=11420\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">events<\/a> on this topic in the past, because of its utmost importance for the nursing community. Cross-border healthcare fosters patients\u2019 rights, quality and safety as well as ensuring the continuity of patient care across countries. Nurses play a key role in fostering cross-border healthcare and healthcare innovators, and the EFN is representing them in these advancements.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Finally, cross-border healthcare would also be greatly enhanced if a cross-border system of Electronic Health Records was in place. Aiming to fill this gap, the EFN is working in two EU-funded projects: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.efnweb.be\/?page_id=10687\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Smart4Health<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.efnweb.be\/?page_id=10684\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">InteropEHRate<\/a>. These two have slightly different approached to reach the same goal: a system for Electronic Heath Records that could be used by all EU citizens\/patients of the EU across all EU countries.
