The meeting was chaired by DG Sante Director-General Sandra Gallina. It was attended by the EFN President, <\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">Dr. <\/span><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">Elizabeth Adams,<\/span><span style=\"color: black;\"> the EFN Secretary General, Dr. Paul De Raeve, <\/span><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">as well as <\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">the <\/span><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">other <\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">Co-chairs of the Coalition<\/span><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"> for Vaccination<\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">, CPME and PGEU<\/span><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">During this meeting, the <\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">European Commission <\/span><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">briefed the <\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">EFN, CPME and PGEU <\/span><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">on the <\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">challenges <\/span><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">the European Commission faced relating the acquisition of COVID-19 vaccines<\/span><span style=\"color: black;\"> for the EU with <\/span><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">the European Commission successfully creat<\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">ing <\/span><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">a &#8220;portfolio&#8221; of different vaccines from different manufacturers. As of today, two of these have already been approved by the European Medicines Agency (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ema.europa.eu\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #4a6ee0;\">EMA<\/span><\/a>), and one of them is already being <\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">rolled out <\/span><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">in the Member States. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">The European Commission explained to <\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">EFN, CPME and PGEU <\/span><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">the importance of an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/live-work-travel-eu\/coronavirus-response_en#safecovid19vaccinesforEuropeans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #4a6ee0;\">online portal<\/span><\/a>\u00a0they developed with the state of play of these vaccines<\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">, <\/span><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">accessible for all healthcare professionals and citizens. This portal contains updated information on the COVID-19 vaccination programmes across Europe, as well as the latest scientific evidence, highlighting the safety and efficiency of these vaccines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">The Coalition for Vaccination is co-chaired by the European Federation of Nurses Associations (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.efn.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #4a6ee0;\">EFN<\/span><\/a>), the Standing Committee of European Doctors (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpme.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #4a6ee0;\">CPME<\/span><\/a>), and the Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pgeu.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #4a6ee0;\">PGEU<\/span><\/a>). It is also backed up by the European Commission which provides coordination and administrative support. The Coalition&#8217;s mission is to commit to delivering accurate information to the public, combating myths and exchanging best practices.
