{"id":15457,"date":"2022-11-22T17:31:43","date_gmt":"2022-11-22T15:31:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/efn.eu\/?p=15457"},"modified":"2022-11-23T15:43:56","modified_gmt":"2022-11-23T13:43:56","slug":"efn-at-high-level-conference-on-covid-19-lessons-learned-and-looking-ahead-to-ensure-a-stronger-eu-health-security-framework","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/efn.eu\/?p=15457","title":{"rendered":"EFN at High-level Conference on COVID-19 Lessons Learned and Looking Ahead to ensure a stronger EU Health Security Framework"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The Directorate General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE) of the European Commission together with the Ministry of Health of Luxembourg is organising on 22 and 23 November 2022 a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cll-conference.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">High-level Conference<\/a> on&nbsp;COVID-19 lessons learned and looking ahead to ensure a stronger EU Health Security Framework, that can be followed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cll-conference.eu\/watch-live\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">online<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Bringing together EU and public institutions, non-governmental organisations, international organisations and governmental representatives, the conference will cover many pertinent lessons learned during the COVID pandemic that helped build a stronger EU Health Security Framework. It will also present the regulations recently adopted by the Council, designed to complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/strategy\/priorities-2019-2024\/promoting-our-european-way-life\/european-health-union_en\">European Health Union<\/a>, in the areas of prevention, preparedness, surveillance, risk assessment, early warning, and response, that should enter into force soon:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>the Regulation on Serious cross-border health threats \u2013 that aims at creating a <strong>more robust mandate for coordination at EU-level<\/strong>, updating reporting requirements as regards health system indicators and streamlining cooperation between EU countries, the European Commission and EU agencies.&nbsp;<\/li><li>the Regulation on the extended mandate of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecdc.europa.eu\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control<\/a>&nbsp;(ECDC) and<\/li><li>the Emergency Framework Regulation to provide extra powers to the <a href=\"https:\/\/health.ec.europa.eu\/health-emergency-preparedness-and-response-hera\/overview_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European&nbsp;Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority<\/a> (HERA)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\"><br>The EFN President, Elizabeth Adams, will chair the roundtable discussion on 23 November at 09.15 \u201cResponding to COVID-19\u201d, that will provide the views of nurses, physicians, patients and health professionals from long-term care facilities on this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
