{"id":1582,"date":"2011-11-20T13:26:26","date_gmt":"2011-11-20T13:26:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.efnweb.be\/?p=1582"},"modified":"2011-11-20T13:26:26","modified_gmt":"2011-11-20T13:26:26","slug":"public-conference-on-the-modernisation-of-the-professional-qualifications-directive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/efn.eu\/?p=1582","title":{"rendered":"Public Conference on the Modernisation of the Professional Qualifications Directive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 7 November 2011, the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Commission<\/a>\u00a0held a<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/internal_market\/qualifications\/conferences\/20111107-modernisation_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Public Conference on the Modernisation of the Professional Qualifications Directive<\/a>, in Brussels, in order to take stock of the various positions in advance of the Commission\u2019s proposal in December which seeks to meet the objectives of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/internal_market\/smact\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Single Market Act<\/a>. The conference, which was organised by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/dgs\/internal_market\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DG Internal Market and Services<\/a>, was attended by key stakeholders, national governments and national competent authorities, and featured a speech by Commissioner Barnier. This high level conference highlighted, among other things, the added value of automatic recognition and recognized the need to strengthen and improve the minimum requirements. In order to take advantage of this opportunity, the EFN and six other European sectoral professions released a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.efn.eu\/version1\/EN\/documents\/JointStatementoftheEuropeanSectoralProfessionsontheModernisationoftheDirective36.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">joint statement<\/a>\u00a0stressing the need to preserve the quality and integrity of qualifications.
