{"id":15933,"date":"2023-04-24T16:24:28","date_gmt":"2023-04-24T14:24:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/efn.eu\/?p=15933"},"modified":"2023-04-24T16:24:30","modified_gmt":"2023-04-24T14:24:30","slug":"efn-co-chair-eu-vaccination-coalition-for-healthcare-professionals-at-ecdc-kick-off-meeting-of-the-european-immunization-week-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/efn.eu\/?p=15933","title":{"rendered":"EFN co-chair EU vaccination coalition for healthcare professionals at ECDC kick off meeting of the European Immunization Week 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">As every year, the EFN is participating actively in the European Immunization Week 2023, taking place from 23 to 29 April 2023, through its social media (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/efnbrussels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Facebook<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EFNBrussels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Twitter<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.instagram.com\/efn_brussels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Instagram<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/efn-paul-de-raeve-035b07127\/\" target=\"_blank\">LinkedIn<\/a>) and through its participation in some key events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">This year the campaign is looking at improve vaccine uptake in the context of European Immunization Agenda 2030 and a global&nbsp;backslide in vaccination rates due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Vaccination is one of the most effective tools for preventing disease and improving health, saving millions of lives each year. Creating trust around vaccination is key and nurses can play a vital role in this, being the closest healthcare professionals near patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">As co-chair of the <a href=\"https:\/\/coalitionforvaccination.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Coalition for Vaccination<\/a>, the EFN President, Elizabeth Adams, participated as keynote speaker in the ECDC kick off meeting of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecdc.europa.eu\/en\/news-events\/european-immunization-week-2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Immunization Week 2023<\/a>, on 24 April 2023, under the theme<em> \u201cA lifelong approach to vaccination\u201d<\/em>, that brought together speakers from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecdc.europa.eu\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ECDC<\/a>), the European Medicines Agency (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ema.europa.eu\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EMA<\/a>), the World Health Organization (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WHO<\/a>), the <a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/index_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Commission<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uantwerpen.be\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University of Antwerp<\/a>, to raise awareness of the importance of immunization for the general health and wellbeing of the European and wider population and to discuss actions against vaccine-preventable diseases and how communication plays a key role in promoting vaccination acceptance and uptake. It is vital that the EU countries consider routine vaccination a priority for all age groups, especially children and help the healthcare professionals to roll out vaccination campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\"><em>\u201cIt is key to listen to and discuss with hesitant people, clarifying information, debunking myths and tackling disinformation; and to build trust in vaccines by being transparent and up-to-date with scientific evidence.
