{"id":3910,"date":"2013-03-06T20:08:16","date_gmt":"2013-03-06T19:08:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.efnweb.be\/?p=3910"},"modified":"2013-03-06T20:08:16","modified_gmt":"2013-03-06T19:08:16","slug":"efn-general-secretary-meets-commissioner-for-health-tonio-borg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/efn.eu\/?p=3910","title":{"rendered":"EFN General Secretary meets Commissioner for Health Tonio Borg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Today, 6 March, the EFN General Secretary, together with the President of the <a title=\"MUMN\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mumn.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses (MUMN)<\/a>, Paul Pace, a member of EFN, had a very exciting meeting with the <a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission_2010-2014\/borg\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Commissioner for Health<\/a>, Tonio Borg. This was a good opportunity to address some key nursing policy challenges linked to his portfolio, such as: Setting up the EU Skills Council; Continuous Professional Development (CPD); best practices for recruitment and retention of nurses (Joint Action); and, last but not least, continuity of care (EIP) and e-health (CIP). The EFN General Secretary encouraged Commissioner Borg to build synergies with <a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/social\/home.jsp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DG Employment<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/dgs\/internal_market\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DG Internal Market<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/dgs\/connect\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DG Connect<\/a>, in order not to reinvent the wheel again and again, and most important, use the nurses\u2019 motivation in an effective and efficient way, especially when austerity measures are impacting severely on the nursing profession.
