{"id":4124,"date":"2013-05-08T21:32:36","date_gmt":"2013-05-08T19:32:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.efnweb.be\/?p=4124"},"modified":"2025-02-27T19:07:43","modified_gmt":"2025-02-27T17:07:43","slug":"europe-day-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/efn.eu\/?p=4124","title":{"rendered":"Europe Day Today!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Marking the 63<sup>rd<\/sup> anniversary of the historical \u2018Schuman <a href=\"http:\/\/europa.eu\/about-eu\/basic-information\/symbols\/europe-day\/schuman-declaration\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">declaration<\/a>\u2019, expressed on 9 May 1950, when the then French Foreign Minister, Robert Schuman, made the first move towards the creation of the European Union, the Europe Day celebrates peace and unity in Europe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Embracing the on-going design of the EU and Europe, Nurses\u2019 contribution to it relates mainly to the Mutual Recognition of Professional Qualification (<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/internal_market\/qualifications\/policy_developments\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Directive 2005\/36\/EC<\/a>), designed in 1971, reviewed in 2005, and currently modernised in trialogue (European Commission, European Parliament &amp; Council of the European Union). The political process and policy outcomes make the nursing education strong, solid, effective and, most important, make nurses fit for practice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Additionally, providing care (including e-healthcare services) needs protocols, standards and guidelines to make sure the process ensures high quality and safe care. The EU legislation makes this possible, as the nurses play a central role by redesigning healthcare systems that will need to change. The EU facilitates this change by exploring good and cost-effective practices which have shown already their impact on patient outcomes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Therefore, it is important to rise that nurses stay positive even in times of economic crisis and with political environments being challenged. We cannot lose our energy by criticising what is bad.
