The healthcare workforce is crucial in the wider deployment of eHealth not only as being its first users but also for the important role they play in accompanying patients and helping them using appropriately new technologies as well as providing re-assurance. Supporting digital skills of the health workforce is all the more needed in the context of the constant changing nature of healthcare systems and healthcare delivery.<\/p>\n
The eHealth Stakeholder Group<\/a> report on “eSkills and Health workforce<\/a>“, <\/b>led by EFN and published by the European Commission on Friday 28 November, provides an overview of the gaps in eSkills of the EU healthcare workforce while providing for a series of practical steps. Among others, it invites the Commission to coordinate the efforts at EU level for instance through the setting-up of a thematic network of stakeholders, which tasks will be to map common eSkill needs. It should also ensure exchange of best practices in training ad curricula, whereas Member States should strengthen efforts on continuous professional development that should also include eSkills.
