The European <span style=\"color: black;\">Commission is preparing a <\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\">new EU Action Pla<\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">n<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\">, <\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">has initiated a<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jpiamr.eu\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joint Action<\/a>, and <\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">will grant an <a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/health\/ngo_award\/home\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">awards<\/a> to the three<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"> NGO<\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">s\u00a0with<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"> best practice<\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">s<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"> in<\/span><span style=\"color: black;\"> combatting<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"> AMR.<\/span><span style=\"color: black;\"> Those are momentous actions, more of which are needed in order to achieve better results!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; color: black;\">Tackling AMR from the perspective of the prescribers achieves the best results and is the focus of the upcoming \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/dgs\/health_food-safety\/amr\/docs\/ev_20160525_ag_en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">guidelines<\/a> on prudent use of antimicrobials in human health\u201d that the Commission will publish soon. In this context the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ens4care.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Final-ENS4Care-Guideline-5-Nurse-ePrescribing-pv.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EFN guidelines on e-prescribing<\/a> are key to make progress, to change the existing culture of prescribing. This culture is identified as by many experts as a main difficulty to overcome in the future. Antibiotics are always prescribed, so let\u2019s reduce resistance by more efficient prescribing!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; color: black;\">Innovation is therefore key to make it all happen at the frontline! We need to push for change and nurses, healthcare professionals, policy-makers but also the industry, play a crucial role in changing culture, in changing behaviour. Prescribers\u2019 behaviour needs to evolve!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; color: black;\">But let\u2019s not forget about the role of the patient and the general public. Stewardship, a well-informed public, and aware patients, are of utmost importance for tackling AMR.
