{"id":8022,"date":"2016-09-16T15:44:37","date_gmt":"2016-09-16T13:44:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.efnweb.be\/?p=8022"},"modified":"2016-09-16T15:44:37","modified_gmt":"2016-09-16T13:44:37","slug":"polish-nurses-joining-forces","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/efn.eu\/?p=8022","title":{"rendered":"Polish nurses joining forces"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meeting in Warsaw on 15-17 September 2016, on the occasion of the 13<sup>th<\/sup> <a href=\"http:\/\/kongres.ptp.na1.pl\/English-Info\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Congress<\/a> of Polish Nurses, the Polish Regulators, Union and Association gave a clear message to the Minister of health: \u201cDo not lower down the nursing education with your new education reforms in Poland\u201d. The EFN Secretary General, Paul De Raeve, added that Poland, since 2004 <a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/enlargement\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EU enlargement<\/a>, has made enormous progress in upscaling nurses with millions of EU funds, and therefore, it is unacceptable to move nursing education back to the Communist regime. He also stressed the importance of compliance with the <a href=\"http:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/FR\/ALL\/?uri=CELEX%3A32013L0055\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EU Directive 2013\/55\/EU<\/a> and putting barriers in place for free movement (keeping nurses in Poland) would be the wrong signal to the Polish society, which highly supports nurses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Polish nursing education needs to stay in a strong position to deliver safe and high quality care. Therefore, it is crucial to have high qualified nurses, as research indicates (Aiken, 2012) <em>\u201cNursing education levels to deliver high quality care is a critical\u00a0condition for a safe and effective health and social care ecosystem through the EU\u201d<\/em>. Poland needs to build further on its positive achievements; a stronger position of nurses, women, in society, better salaries, better working conditions, although we all realise it is just the start of a process, not the end.
