{"id":9100,"date":"2017-11-17T14:36:15","date_gmt":"2017-11-17T13:36:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.efnweb.be\/?p=9100"},"modified":"2017-11-17T14:36:15","modified_gmt":"2017-11-17T13:36:15","slug":"the-european-institutions-proclaim-the-european-pillar-of-social-rights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/efn.eu\/?p=9100","title":{"rendered":"The European Institutions proclaim the European Pillar of Social Rights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On 17 November, heads of state and government endorsed the <a href=\"http:\/\/data.consilium.europa.eu\/doc\/document\/ST-13129-2017-INIT\/en\/pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proclamation<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/priorities\/deeper-and-fairer-economic-and-monetary-union\/european-pillar-social-rights_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Pillar of Social Rights<\/a>, presented by the European Commission at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.socialsummit17.se\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Social Summit in Gothenburg<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Pillar aims to create a driver for social change in Europe and a guide towards efficient employment and social outcomes when responding to current and future challenges.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The proclamation covers policy domains in which nurses play a central role, especially those related to Education, Workforce and Quality and Safety, EFN three lobby policy priorities towards the Council, the European Commission and the European Parliament. The <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/priorities\/deeper-and-fairer-economic-and-monetary-union\/european-pillar-social-rights\/european-pillar-social-rights-20-principles_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">20 principles<\/a> and rights as set out, link to three overarching themes, namely: 1\/ equal opportunities and access to the labour market; 2\/ dynamic labour markets and fair working conditions; and 3\/ public support \/social protection and inclusion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The EFN calls for nurses\u2019 input to be part of the adequate and efficient implementation of the Social Pillar in the EU.
