Looking back at the challenges facing the EU, namely the nurses massively leaving the profession, it is clear that we need, more than ever, adequate actions taken to support the frontline health professionals that provide direct patient care and highly qualified workforce ensuring that patient safety and quality of care are maintained.
A lot has been done, and 2023 has been another year of intense lobby work, developing strong alliances with the EU Health Stakeholders and the EU policymakers designing the EU health policies, on key topics for nurses and the nursing profession as violence against nurses/women, digitalisation, education, patient safety and quality of care, workforce, with some positive results paving the way for a better healthcare system all over the EU and Europe with better patients’ outcomes. But a lot is still to be done to create resilient health systems and have a real impact on the nursing workforce and the healthcare professions in general.
We believe that 2024 will build further on the successes achieved in 2023. We very much count on the Belgium EU Presidency, having health high on its agenda and aiming to make things move, to make change happen for the nursing profession.
We take this opportunity to thank you all for your collaboration and continued support to the nurses throughout the year. We look forward to continuing our alliance in 2024.
We wish you all a relaxing holiday season and hope that the new year will bring significant changes and an optimistic future.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to All!
