by efn efn

Part of the trio – Poland, Denmark and Cyprus, Denmark is today taking over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the next 6 months, for the eighth time in its history.

Focussing on ‘A secure Europe’ and a ‘competitive and green Europe’, the Danish EU Presidency will support several ongoing initiatives, including the action plan for implementing the European Pillar of Social Rights, the Quality Jobs Roadmap, the EU Gender Equality Strategy, the Directive on combating violence against women and domestic violence, supporting the future of ageing and long-term care, and developing new strategies for quality, accessibility, and improved working conditions. In terms of health, the Danish EU Presidency will focus on strengthening EU preparedness and boost the resilience of the healthcare system.

All these are key topics for the nursing profession, and high on EFN policy agenda. As such, the EFN will follow closely these developments over the next 6 months, and make sure that nurses’ voice is heard and taken into account in the policies’ developments that affect Europe’s healthcare systems.
