ICUdata4EU is an EU-funded project addressing the challenges faced by Intensive Care Units (ICUs) through a robust consortium of which EFN is a key partner. By deploying an ICU dataspace infrastructure, the project aims to enhance access to and exploration of ICU databases across the EU, fostering technological, medical, and societal innovations. This initiative is a key part of Europe’s strategy to improve acute and intensive care, ensuring secure, interoperable, and efficient healthcare solutions.
By leveraging data interoperability, artificial intelligence, and cross-border collaboration, the project will establish a unified framework for collecting, sharing, and analysing Intensive Care Unit (ICU) data. By bridging healthcare system gaps, it will enable real-time decision-making, optimise resource allocation, and accelerate advancements in critical care research.
While the work on the project is still in the initial phase, the EFN has until now contributed to ensuring that end-users needs and perspective are fully taken into account in the development of the first mock-up of the ICU data sharing platform that will be developed as final deliverable of the project (WP3). The EFN is also supporting the dissemination of the project, ensuring that as many stakeholders as possible are aware of the project intended outcomes and objectives (WP8).
