European Immunisation Week 2026

by efn efn

The 2026 WHO European Immunisation Week (EIW2026) is taking place from 19 April to 24 April. This year marks the 20th annual EIW with the theme “For every generation, vaccines work”.

This year’s campaign highlights how vaccines have safely protected people, families and communities for generations – and continue to safeguard our future. In this respect, EFN wants to celebrate frontline nurses, who continue to be precious source of information on the importance of #vaccination for patients and citizens.

However, in line with the Coalition for Vaccination Joint Statement published in February 2026, and as one of the Coalition for Vaccination co-chairs, EFN calls on policymakers to invest in high quality education to equip nurses with the skills and tools to communicate clearly and compassionately about vaccines, helping fight vaccine hesitancy.

In this regard, EFN welcomes the European Commission’s new EU Cardiovascular Health Plan which keeps vaccination on the EU agenda, and the continued focus of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in co-creating with healthcare professionals fit for purpose solutions to fight vaccines hesitancy and disinformation.

EIW2026 is a timely reminder that immunisation is both a collective responsibility and a shared opportunity. Together, we can ensure vaccines will continue to protect the next generations.
