The EFN has attended the third ICUData4EU Project General Assembly in Crete, Greece, hosted by the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH). It was a great opportunity for the EFN to hear from the European Commission DG CNECT Project Officer, who gave an overview of the policy context at EU level within which ICUData4EU is working, and of collaboration opportunities for ICUData4EU.
The EFN was happy to meet again with all the project partners, including the leads of the 8 Work Package (WP), which shared updates on the project’s ongoing developments linked to the development of a confederated data sharing platform for European ICUs, in alignment with the EHDS. Importantly, the project seeks to facilitate the development of AI-driven clinical decision support and enhance collaboration across healthcare, which is key to strengthen EU and European Preparedness for the next healthcare crisis
EFN, as the end-users representative, is working closely in WP3 – Needs Assessment and Requirements Gathering for the European ICU Data Space, lead by the Information Technology for Translational Medicine (ITTM) and WP8 – Validation, Pilot Testing and Dissemination, lead by the Aachen University Hospital (UKA). Importantly, these two WPs work closely together in the development and validation of primary use cases of the ICUData4EU platform. The Advanced Kidney Injury (AKI) is the first use case being tested, with more to be defined. EFN, as the end-users’ representative, will continue to provide feedback from a nursing perspective.
The 2027 ICUData4EU General Assembly will be hosted in Luxembourg (Dates TBC).
