The Czech Republic National Nurses Association organised in Prague, on 16 March 2015, a conference on nurse education to ensure that nurses and their education are more visible in Czech Republic.
Invited as keynote speaker on the theme “EU Nurses Education in the 21st Century”, the EFN Secretary General explained that “Policymakers need to embrace the evidence for strengthening the efficiency of the healthcare sector by investing in education”. And strengthened that “All EU nursing schools should ensure high quality care is delivered in Europe, by implementing appropriately the directive (2005/36/EC, amended by directive 2013/55/EU) and securing the nursing education for the best interest of EU citizens and patients”.
Bringing together nurses in leadership positions, nursing educators, nurses in direct care, politicians, physicians, and journalists, the key conclusion of this event shows that Czech nurses need to be unified and stand up for the further development of the nursing profession, namely by using EU available funds.
