The EFN has been lobbying the EU Institutions and the national governments and health systems to invest in a resilient nursing workforce to address the growing nursing shortage, including education, better working conditions, enough resources and support, value of their work, and better salaries.
The focus has gone to Education (DIR5 2013/55/EU); EFN Advanced Practice Nursing developments in the EU with a mapping of 35 EFN members policy and regulation context; Safe Staffing Levels and Nursing Student Mentorship as linked to the context of WHO Nursing Action EU project; the EMPL-SANT Joint INI Report on the Health Workforce; Violence Against Nurses; Digitalisation; Cybersecurity; the EU Presidencies; and the EU projects the EFN is involved in: BeWell, KEEPCARING, ICUData4EU, WHO Nursing Action.
The EFN will continue lobbying the EU policy and decision makers, in particular the European Parliament and the European Commission, making sure that the nurses’ voice is taken into account in latest EU policy developments which will have an impact on the nursing profession.
Therefore, after an intense first half of the year, and before going into a full second lobby half of the year, it is time to take first a good rest. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all EFN Members and colleagues a wonderful and relaxing summer break. Enjoy it to the fullest!
